Crafters
Making decorated cookies is a trend that is fast picking up and most cookie makers are realizing that it is much easier when you use a dehydrator. The gentle warm air from the dehydrator keeps the icing smooth and crack free. Making decoration quick, easy and fun.
Everything you need to know about decorating cookies with a dehydrator:
What is the drying time?
When drying your cookie décor, a good time frame to consider is 30 to 40 minutes in a dry climate and between 2 and 3 hours in a humid climate to avoid the actual biscuit from drying out.
Can I store my cookies after 10-20 minutes in the dehydrator? We recommend not. 20 minutes is too short a time frame to dry icing. Depending on your climate, you are looking at, at least 40 minutes to 2 hours, maybe more depending on the icing used and its consistency.
Can I just leave the cookies in the dehydrator when they are dry? Absolutely. As the air is still warm, no harm will come to your cookies as long as you remember to take them out at some point!
What is the best temperature to use? You want your icing to dry up but not to crack. Choose the lowest temperature possible. A temperature range of 35 – 40 degrees Celsius should suffice.
How do I choose the correct dehydrator? Well this one depends on your preference, whether you want a round or square dehydrator. Should it be expandable? Should it have a timer? These are all things to consider. We recommend either an Ezidri or Kuto dehydrator.
