When Healthmakers started in South Africa (1995), health was not a huge focus. Few of us were concerned with clean water, clean air, fresh fruit juice from a juicer or super blender, drying our own food in a dehydrator, or making our own bread. Health Products like Water Purification units, Water Filters, Water Distiller, Reverse Osmosis units, Carbon Filters, Air Purification - Ioniser - Ozone, Sprouter, Juicer, Blender, Super Blender, Dehydrator, Apple Peeler, Sprouter, Vacuum Cleaner, Breadmaker, Wheatgrass Kits, Books, Cd's and other Healthy Lifestyle Equipment were not even available.
People weren't asking about the nearest place you could get a wheatgrass shot, glass of carrot juice or smoothies made with a Juicer or Super Blender. Not many knew about making homemade snacks with the Dehydrator or sprouts with our Automatic Sprouter that does everything except put in the seeds and add water. Little was known about why we should be cleaning our municipal water, with Water Filters, Distillers, Reverse Osmosis and other Water Purification methods; as we were not aware that the water still had heavy metals, toxic tryhalomethanes and sometimes even maggots in it. It was a time when any Vacuum Cleaner would do, even one that poured all the dust back into the air. It was a time when we had to get our hands dirty making bread, instead of grinding our own grain with a Vita-Mix Super Blender, adding seeds from our Seed Grinder kneading it all in the Vita-Mix Super Blender and pouring the dough into our breadmaker putting on the timer and wow, bread in as little as 1 hour. This is no longer the norm. Health is now a big priority in South Africa and the World.
